Seven Awards in Seven Categories
Certificates, Seals and 21 Million L.L.

Beirut Art Book Fair organizes the Lebanese Book Design Award. The award recognizes and encourages creativity and innovation in contemporary Lebanese book design and production and showcases the creativity of the Lebanese designers, printers and publishers.

  • Eligibility
A publisher, printer or graphic designer can submit maximum three books in any language. The award goes to the three provided the book is designed, published, printed and bound in Lebanon during the years 2011, 2012 and 2013.

Submission
An application form should be filled up, and a charge of US$ 50 not refundable to be paid for each book. All entries must be received before 26/4/2013. Submitted books, except limited edition books, are not returned

  • Categories
There will be seven categories this year defined according to content:
- Academic books: dictionaries, atlases, research studies
- Art books: art, photography, architecture and monographs of
artists.
- Children books: for children age 0-16
- Exhibition catalogues
- Limited edition books and fine binding
- Literature books: fiction, biography and letters
- Poetry books

  • Awards
One Award will be given for each category. Citations will be presented together with the seal of the award and a monetary amount of three million Lebanese pounds. Honourable mention may be awarded. The Awards will be announced at the Fair Closing Ceremony on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 7 pm.

  • The Jury
The jury consists of five professionals in the fields of publishing, design and advertisement. Public voting at the Beirut Art Book Fair is valued at ten per cent of the total evaluation, and complements the evaluation of the jury.

Exceptional format
Excellent layout
High standard of typography
Outstanding production: printing and binding.
Materials used; paper, jacket, cover
Overall finish judged in the contest of the book’s purpose
Inventiveness and experimentation

  • Privileges
All books awarded by this national competition can participate in international competitions. The seal of the award can be used in the
promotion of the books.

  • Award ceremony
The award ceremony is part of the closing ceremony of the Beirut Art Book Fair when the winners are announced and awarded their prizes. The closing ceremony will be on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 7 pm.
